It feels like fall is just around the corner... 😱
Just because a new season is approaching doesn't mean you have to pack away all your summer clothes (or stuff them in the back of the closet)! We enjoy finding new ways to breathe new life into our summer favorites, so we are sharing ways you can transition six(!) summer favorites into the (slightly) cooler autumn months!
The Scarf Trend
Why not continue the scarf trend from summer to fall? We styled our floral scarf as purse handle decor for a breezy touch. If you want to bring it more into fall, twist the scarf before wrapping it to create a condensed bundle of muted colors (hiding more of the white). Another pro? It'll make a comfier handle for your hands if you decide not to use the crossbody strap. Switch up the look with a different pattern scarf or choose one made of thicker material to get varying looks!
If you're not a structured purse handle kinda gal, try incorporating scarves into your hair! The Addison leopard scarf (featured above) has gorgeous teal and royal blue colors that create a striking statement on any hair color. We styled it by first tying the hair into a ponytail and then wrapped the scarf around the tie. Finish it off by tying it into a knot! Too easy, right? Imagine all the ways you can jazz up a simple turtleneck and ankle pants with just a scarf!
The Tie-Front Top Trend
For summer, it's easy to just throw on a pair of shorts to go with your tie-front top and run! As autumn approaches, keep the classic formula and go for a pair of great-fitting denim to keep wearing your top into the fall season. Our Talia top is perfectly light for warmer weather, but the color way makes it also meld seamlessly into cooler months.
Do you love your tie-front tops and wish you could keep wearing them forever? Now, you can! While the outfit above works well for the summer, you can simply throw on a camel trench and leopard booties for an instant "YES" outfit! Our Lorraine blouse is silky soft and feels amazing against the skin, so you'll feel great even as you reminisce about how the sun used to stay out just a little bit longer...
The Floral Trend
Floral midi skirts are never a bad idea, and it's thankfully easy to transition them from summer to fall! We styled the Bridget skirt here with a white tee and a denim jacket for summer, but you can cozy up the outfit with a light sweater that corresponds to one of the colors on the skirt. What's your favorite color to wear? Poppy red? Deep burgundy? Light tan? Black? White? Blue? Throw on a loose sweater and knot it in the front to create an ultra-chic look that lets you postpone clearing out your closet for winter!
Florals and wrap dresses go hand in hand, and you don't have to let trends go like trees drop their leaves! A pair of tan booties can do a lot to keep the outfit more fall-oriented, and an oversize corduroy or denim jacket can amp up that cozy factor. We love our Sienna wrap dress because it's the perfect shade and lightness to transition from summer to fall!
The Casual Sweater Trend
Light sweaters are a blessing that can save you in those freezing movie theaters or while walking around on the boardwalk. If you choose one with the right color palette, it will serve you for many months every year! Our Autumn sweater has the perfect weight and color to help you complete an outfit with denim shorts and sandals or high-waisted jeans and flats.
Neons and earthy tones aren't just for sunny days. If your sweater is slightly cropped like our Belle crew neck sweater, don't despair when the leaves start to fall and the wind becomes crisp. Try pairing it with something higher waisted so you can keep toasty all day long. I'd also suggest trying something a little more unique to pair with your sweater, such as a denim midi skirt, but anything will look great with these bright and moody hues!
The Slip Skirt Trend
I'd be hard pressed to find someone who hadn't seen someone wearing a slip skirt in the last few months. Stores offer them in so many varieties of colors and textures - After all, what's not to love? They're fast to style, look put together whether you throw on a graphic tee or blouse, and are effortless! Blogger Emily Layne (@leisurelylayne) styled our Eileen satin slip skirt with our embroidered ivory top, mading it more casual by tying the bottom of the tee in a knot! I adore how she made it her own and showed her fun and playful style by pairing it with this luxurious, easy-to-wear skirt. If the autumn months get colder, simply throw on a denim or bomber jacket to fit your aesthetic!
Slip skirts are always a good idea, and one of our tips is to be on the lookout for the right prints and patterns. Leopard is a classic pattern, but how do you make it more unique without having to think too hard? Change up the color palette in a way that makes it easy to transition from summer to fall! The Renee leopard midi is a classic example: the beautiful print is there, but the colors make the style look unique and fun. The bold red and champagne hues work to create a fall-ish look that's the perfect base for a cozy sweater or sleek turtleneck.
The Gingham & Plaid Trend
What else can you wear from your summer wardrobe in the fall? Gingham and plaid! While plaid is a classic pattern for the fall months, I feel like gingham is slowly working its way into the later summer/fall months. Our Claire romper is a summer stunner that would pair perfectly with a cozy cardigan and booties as the days get shorter. Why stop wearing a good thing, am I right?
Who says lightweight rompers can't be a fall thing? It's all in the eye of the styler! Janet styled Edith (our favorite romper of the moment) into the perfect fall outfit by layering (the key!) a white turtleneck to keep cozy. By keeping textures light, even with the rust-colored linen coat we carry, she made it autumn-appropriate with the textures and additions of the gold jewelry and camel crossbody statement purse.
With all of this inspiration at your beck and call, we hope you have fresh ideas to take your summer outfits into fall-appropriate styles! Feel free to check us out on Instagram and Facebook for more outfit inspiration and updates on sales, events, and more! Ta ta for now!
